Diabetes Definition Types and Formation

If you are suffering from diabetes, then you want to understand the symptoms and problems associated with this.  The more you understand this, the easier it will be for you to find solutions and to understand how to keep your body balanced, despite the disease.  Understanding the conditions, symptoms and analysis behind diabetes is the beginning to changing the outcome of this problem.

Definition of Diabetes

There are three main types of diabetes, type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.  These are each divided according to how the disease begins to form, as well as how they affect the body.  Any type of this disease begins with changes in the pancreas and metabolism.  The natural job of the metabolism is to work as a system in the body that is responsible for breaking up foods and distributing nutrients to different areas of the body.  The most important distribution of foods to prevent diabetes is glucose, a sugar that the body needs for energy.

After the glucose is broken up by the metabolism, it moves into various areas of the blood stream for energy.  However, for this to work effectively, it has to be met with a second nutrient from the pancreas, known as insulin.  Insulin is a hormone that gives glucose the capacity to move from your blood stream and into cells that are in need of the boost of energy.  When someone is suffering from diabetes, it is typically because the insulin or glucose is not balanced properly when moving through the body's system.

How Diabetes Form

The types of diabetes are divided according to how the body reacts to the insulin and glucose moving from the body.  Typically, the pancreas will produce enough insulin for the glucose to move into the stream of the blood.  However, cells may not respond to insulin that is produced, making it so the glucose can't get into the blood stream.  The result is that the glucose builds up in the blood and is removed from the blood stream through the immune system.  This makes it so those with diabetes have low energy because the glucose is unable to provide the correct amount of fuel to the body.

Even through this main concept include several reactions that the body has that cause the imbalance of glucose and insulin.  The most known type of diabetes is type 2.  In this instance, there is enough insulin in the body; however, the body is not able to recognize the hormone, causing the cells to not take the glucose into the body.  The result is that the body becomes fatigued and is not able to have a sufficient source of energy throughout the blood stream.

Type 1 diabetes differs from this because it is a response from the autoimmune system.  If the body is fighting an infection, then the immune system begins to attack various parts of the body.  If the immune system does not distinguish specific systems in the body, then it attacks these as well.  With type 1 diabetes, the pancreas is attacked, making it so insulin can't be produced.  Gestational diabetes differs from this as the insulin produced by the pancreas is shortened, most likely because of extra hormones that are produced from pregnancy.

Understanding the main functioning that causes diabetes, as well as the types that most suffer from is the beginning to attacking back on the problem of diabetes.  With those who suffer from this particular disease, are also specific changes the body goes through which causes the systems in the body to function and communicate differently.
